NORCROSS - Police arrested a 17-year-old male suspect over the weekend who allegedly pistol-whipped a man and stole his vehicle, and police are still seeking a second suspect.
According to a Gwinnett County police report, the victim parked his 2003 GMC Yukon in front of his apartment in the Madision Ridge Apartments in Norcross just before 11 p.m. on Saturday, the report said.
Two Hispanic men, one wearing all white and another wearing all black, approached the victim who was still sitting in the SUV, the report said.
The victim rolled his window down, and the suspect in white pulled a chrome handgun and allegedly struck the victim around his eye with it, the report said.
The suspects then drove away in the victim's vehicle at a high rate of speed.
Police later found the vehicle and attempted to pull the driver over. The driver did not stop, and a pursuit ensued, the report said.
The chase later ended at an office complex at 6119 Oakbrook Parkway.
The driver, the suspect in white, allegedly rammed a number of police cars, injuring two officers, said Cpl. Darren Moloney, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department.
The driver attempted to flee on foot, but was subdued with an officer's Taser gun, Moloney said.
The suspect was arrested and charged, but the suspect in black was nowhere to be found, Moloney said.
Moloney said investigators have confirmed that the incident was gang-related, and the name of the suspect is not being released.
"We suspect the offender committed other offenses, and his photograph is being using in a lineup," Moloney said.
