BUFORD - Buford expanded its city limits by annexing 95.63 acres in Monday's City Commission meeting. Almost half the property annexed, 43.63 acres, lies in Hall County, which did not object to any of the annexations.
A mixed-use development, tentatively named Buford Jubilee, is planned for 52 acres at Ga. Highway 20 and South Lee Street in Gwinnett County. The property was rezoned from residential to commercial use. Plans show 226,020 square feet of retail/entertainment space, 349,560 square feet of office space, 100 residential lofts, 33 single family detached homes and 42 single family attached homes. Gwinnett County's future land use map designates the area as high density residential. Gwinnett did not object to the annexation and Buford's Planning and Zoning Board recommended approval of the project. The development will be built in one phase with a projected completion date of 2012. Gated community near lake A gated community of 84 homes with prices starting at $500,000 is planned in Hall County. City Commissioners voted to annex eight separate properties on Hutchins and Shoreline Drives and Holiday Road near Lake Lanier for the development. Island annexed A 1.84-acre island of Hall County surrounded by the city of Buford at 898 Gainesville Highway was annexed Monday. Hall County did not object to the rezoning.
