Man charged with arson in mobile home fire

LAWRENCEVILLE - A man has been charged in connection with a mobile home fire that resulted in a total loss Saturday night.

Lt. Thomas Rutledge, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Fire Department, said Miguel Castillo is charged with first-degree arson and

burglary.

He is also charged with providing false information to police for giving false information to arson investigators, Rutledge said.

Investigators say Castillo entered his sister's single-wide mobile home without permission for the purpose of destroying the property, Rutledge said.

No one was home when Castillo allegedly started the fire, Rutledge said.

Rutledge also said Castillo was already in jail on separate charges when fire investigators served the warrants.

According to the initial report on Saturday, the call was dispatched to Pine Valley Circle at 7:03 p.m. after several 911 calls were received by neighbors.

Firefighters arrived on the scene and had the fire under control at

7:23 p.m., but they were unable to save the structure, Rutledge said.

No further information about the arrest was available at press time Tuesday night.
