WINDER - A pedestrian was killed Friday when he got out of his car to check on a vehicle his car struck.
Bethlehem resident Thomas Lamar Bruce, 86, was traveling south on Ga. Highway 53 when the truck he was traveling in struck a red Dodge D-50 which was stopped to make a left turn on Sims Road, Winder Police Lt. Dennis Dorsey said.
Bruce pulled his white Chevy S-10 to the right side of the road of Ga. Highway 53, Dorsey said, and the driver of the Dodge pulled onto Martin Drive. Bruce crossed the road to speak to the driver of the Dodge, and was struck by a Ford F-150 driven by Justin Gibson as he returned to his car.
No charges have been filed, and no other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
