William H. Johnston

Mr. William H. “Bill” Johnston, age 64, of Buford, GA passed away on May 25, 2006. Surviving are: Wife: Mrs. Suzanne May Johnston, Buford, GA; Daughter: Ms. Barbara Johnston, Buford, GA; Son: William H. Johnston, Buford, GA; Grandchildren: Anabell Lee Wood, William Joseph Johnston Hannan; Sister: Judith Johnston Wexler, Glenside, PA; Step-Sons: Andrew May, Christopher H. May; Nephews: Bruce Wexler and Aaron Wexler; Beloved Dog: Black Standard Poodle “McGee.” Mr. Johnston was born on June 11, 1941 in Bucks County, PA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a retired Executive Director of Productions for Georgia Public Television in Atlanta, GA. He was a 1964 graduate of Northwestern University and a 1959 graduate of Admiral Farragut Naval Academy in New Jersey. He was one of the founders of the Stone Mountain Highland Games, the Scottish Festival as well as the Atlanta Pipe and Drum Corps. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. He was Captain of the Georgia Coast Guard Auxiliary and former President of the Southern Bicycle League. He won several Emmy Awards for achievement in television productions. He was an avid boater at Holiday Marina at Lake Lanier. He was bestowed by the Queen of England with the prestigious honor of Member of the British Empire. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Pastor Howard Conine officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 am. - 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House in memory of William H. “Bill” Johnston.
