Post closes Monday

LAWRENCEVILLE - The Gwinnett Daily Post's main offices will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

County offices will also be closed, except for those required for the comfort and safety of citizens.

Winder play to end ticket sales

WINDER - Next week will be the final week of ticket sales for Winder-Barrow Community Theatre's presentation of "Alice's Wonderland Adventure."

Tickets are $5 and $3 for children 12 and under. They can be purchased in advance from Pam Veader at State Farm Insurance at 41 South Center St. in Winder.

The play will be presented on June 3 at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The June 4 show will be at 3 p.m. After the play, the audience members will be invited to visit Wonderland where they will make crafts and have refreshments with Alice, the Mad Hatter and the other

characters.

Poster contest

has winner

LAWRENCEVILLE - The Mill Creek Nature Center and Georgia Wildlife Federation just completed their first poster contest.

The winning poster is being hung in the Mall of Georgia and at the Buford REI store during the month of May.

Cleanup challenge has winners

LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful is pleased to announce the winners of the Second Annual Great American Cleanup Gwinnett Challenge.

First place winners from the categories of Schools, Civic Groups and Neighborhood Groups were chosen based upon the biggest transformation, use of innovation and the volunteer base that participated.

The school group winner is Providence Christian Academy, civic group winner is Interlocking Communities, Inc. and neighborhood group winner is Beaver Hills Civic Association.

The public will now help select the overall Grand Champion and recipient of a $2,000 cash award through an online voting form at the Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful Web site, www.gwinnettcb.org.

Until June 2, site visitors can learn more about the first place projects, see before and after photos and cast their vote for the Grand Champion that will be announced in early June.

Blood drive

this weekend

LAWRENCEVILLE - All participants at select blood drives and donor centers this weekend will receive a vintage American Red Cross umbrella and a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich.

Holiday weekends are especially tough for the American Red Cross because schools, which account for 15 percent of donations, are out and people are on vacation. In addition, many companies and community groups who hold blood drives with the Red Cross are closed.

Most healthy people age 17 or older, who weigh at least 110 pounds, can donate. For more information or to make an appointment, please call the American Red Cross at 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (448-3543) or log on to www.givebloodredcross.org.

All mall participants can also enter to win a $250 mall gift card. One gift card will be given away per mall.
