Johnnie Gouge Huston, age 90, of Lawrenceville, GA, passed away on May 14, 2006 at Hospice Atlanta. She was born on October 22, 1915 in Grayson, Georgia, the fifth of seven children of George Wesley Gouge and Lela Petty Gouge. She was the widow of W. D. (Dubb) Huston of Lawrenceville and was a retired employee of the Lovable Company. She attended Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Grayson for many years and was a member of the Golden Age Club there. She is survived by: Son: David Wesley Huston and his wife, Julie of Atlanta; Granddaughter: Amy Huston Goetze and her husband, Ed of Atlanta; Grandson: Robert David Huston and his wife, Nancy of Chattanooga, TN; Three Grandchildren: Jennifer Huston, David Goetze and Stephen Goetze; Nephews: Gene Gouge of Crandall, GA, Michael Nunnally of Lilburn, GA. Frances T. Smith, age 88 of Lawrenceville, Georgia was called to her heavenly home on May 15, 2006. Frances was the eleventh of twelve children, born to Gabriel Leonidas Thomas and Mary Frances McCay. Born in McCaysville, Georgia on April 15, 1918. Brothers and sisters preceding her death are: Maude Ensley, George Thomas, Ida Hobbs, Mildred Horner, Mae Everett, Pearl Storey, Ruby Lowe, Ruth Henderson, Edward Thomas, Nelle Bell and most recently Gabriel (Gabe) Thomas of McDonough, Georgia. The circle is now complete. All of the twelve brothers and sisters are together again. Dearest to her heart was her undying love for her family. Married for sixty-seven years to Charles B. Smith of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Frances is survived by her daughter, Marion S. Butcher of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Her four grandchildren and their spouses and their children are as follows: Brian Lee Butcher, wife, Kathleen, children, Hannah and Andrew of Alpharetta, Georgia; Eric Scott Butcher, wife, Deborah, children, Kayla and Cody of Suwanee, Georgia; Russell Allen Butcher and his family, Shannon and Justin Butcher of Alpharetta, Georgia; and Jesse Butcher of Rosalina, Washington; Allison Elizabeth Dunsmuir, husband, Scott, children, Mason and Laurel of Alpharetta, Georgia; Barry McDaniel, family friend of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Dolly, beloved pet poodle, who always made her smile. Known for her elegance, finesse and decorative talent, Frances led her career as a top interior designer in Knoxville, Tennessee. Satisfying her entrepreneurial spirit, she owned her own successful business catering to the upscale home accessory decor market in Tampa, Florida. Frances was the epitome of hospitality, adored to entertain and lived life with an adventurous, and at times, a mischievous spirit. She and Charles enjoyed gardening, bird watching and playing bridge. Her garden was her refuge and truly an inspiration to all. Known as "Nanny" to many, she will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 19th, 2006 at 2:00p.m. at Sunrise Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Mary Jim (Ford) Smith (affectionately know as "Gaw Gaw"), age 85, of Lawrenceville, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2006. She is survived by: Daughter & Son-in-Law: Kay & Jim Payne; Son: James (Smitty) Smith; Grandchildren: Kelly & Steve Murell of Social Circle, GA, Josh Payne of Auburn, GA, John Smith of Oregon, Julie Wightman of Utah, James Q. Smith of California; Great Grandchildren: Rachel & Luke Murell and Adam Wightman; Brother & Sister-in-Law: Bill & Barbara Ford of Shalimar, FL, and their sons, Mike & Stephen; Sister-in-Law: Janet Oakes; Several other Nieces & Nephews and numerous Cousins. Mary Jim was born in Grayson and was a Grayson High School graduate of the Class of 1938 where she was a star basketball player. She married Quill Smith in 1940 and moved to Lawrenceville. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Lawrenceville where she taught the Beginner's Sunday School Class with the late Miss Ola Garner for more than 20 years. Mary Jim was a talented pianist and played drums in a local band for many years. In her early years, she was a beautician, worked for Kraft Foods and her last employment was with Button Gwinnett Hospital as an X-ray Technician. Her most satisfying and rewarding jobs were being a Mother, Grandmother and friend to many. She was very unselfish in life and also in death, and therefore, donated her body to Emory University School of Medicine. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at Wages Lawrenceville Chapel with Dr. Lamar Holley officiating. Walter A. Grizzard, age 63 of Lilburn, GA died May 15, 2006. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lucia Grizzard; daughters and sons-in-law, Gina and Robert Boyd of Houston, TX, Shaney and David Rosenbaum of Hilton Head, SC, Wynne and Brian Bischoff of Panama City, FL; son, Walter Adam Grizzard of Lilburn; sister, Gwendolyn and Jack Dalton of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Aileen, Justin, Porsche, Cody, Alexander, Daniel, Zachary. Mr. Grizzard was a Binder by trade and a coach by desire. He was a member of Snellville First Baptist Church, Alumnist and Football Letterman of Mississippi State University and an active member of Georgia Youth Football Conference. Coach Grizzard, was a loving husband, an extraordinary father of four and a wonderful grandfather of seven. Coach was a father figure to countless, young aspiring athletes instilling the importance of faith, family and the spirit of competition.
