NORCROSS - A 34-year-old man was arrested on rape charges after a woman was attacked at a Norcross extended-stay motel.
Police believe the victim went to the room where Armando Prado Jimenez was staying at Knights Inn at 5122 Brook Hollow Parkway to look for a friend about 1:30 a.m. Friday. While she was in the room Jimenez offered her crack and asked her to have sex with him, but she declined both, said Chief Dallas Stidd of the Norcross Police Department. Police say Jimenez began choking the victim and threatened her with a box cutter. At some point the woman attempted to call 911, but he ripped the telephone cord from the wall and raped her, Stidd said. A security guard at the motel heard the commotion and reported the assault to the police. The victim suffered minor injuries. Jimenez was arrested on charges of rape, aggravated assault, sexual battery, false imprisonment and interference with a 911 call. A preliminary hearing before a Gwinnett County Magistrate Judge is scheduled for Thursday.More like this story
