Burford - Cosby

Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Burford Jr. of Ila announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Nicole Burford, to Bradley Alan Cosby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Montgomery of Dacula and Mr. and Mrs. Alan Cosby of Delaware.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis T. Logan of Ila. She is a 2000 graduate of Madison County High School and a 2004 graduate of the University of West Georgia, where she received a bachelor's degree in marketing. She is employed by Branch Banking & Trust.

The future groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Cosby of McDonough and the late Ms. Mattie Cain of Lawrenceville. He is a 2000 graduate of Dacula High School and a 2004 graduate of the University of West Georgia, where he received bachelor's degrees in accounting and finance. He is a certified public accountant employed by Cherry Bekeart and Holland in Atlanta as an auditor.

The wedding is planned for June 10 at Hardeman-Sams House in Athens.

Pope - Moss

David Pope and Pia de la Sotta Pope of Naperville, Ill., announce the engagement of their daughter, Nicoll Alexandria Pope, to Jay Thomas Moss, son of Max Moss and Brenda Moss of Laurel, Miss.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of N.B. Pope of Winthrop Harbor Ill. She is a graduate of Collins Hill High School and received an associate's degree in computer science from Gwinnett Technical College. She is working on a bachelor's degree in computer science from Excelsior College and is employed with a bioprocessing company in Norcross.

The future groom is the grandson of J.C. Dickerson of Laurel, Miss. He is a graduate of West Jones High School in Laurel, Miss., and received an associate's degree in business administration from Jones County Junior College in Ellisville, Miss. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master's degree in business administration from William Carey College. He is employed at a poultry company in Oakwood.

The wedding is planned for Oct. 14 in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Longbrake - Smith

Al and Elizabeth Longbrake of Lawrenceville announce the engagement of their daughter, Sara Elizabeth Longbrake, to Clayton Jeffrey Smith, son of Jeff and Donna Smith of Lawrenceville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Charles Cowgill of Albany, Ind., and Hazel Longbrake of Huntsville, Ala. She is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University, where she received a bachelor's degree in education.

The future groom is the grandson of Donald and Ruth Neighbors of LaGrange and Garland and Betty Smith of Manchester. He is a graduate of Gwinnett Technical College of Lawrenceville, where he received an associate's degree in auto services.

The wedding is set for May 27 at Rolling Hills Baptist Church.

Hughes - Thompson

Cheryl and David Hughes of Cumming announce the engagement of their daughter, Shannon Leigh Hughes, to John Wiley Thompson III, son of Mary Ellen and John Thompson of Athens.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Gretchen Hughes and the late Albert T. Hughes of Sidney, Ohio, and Wylene and James Lane of Iron City. A graduate of South Gwinnett High School, she attended North Georgia College and State University, where she received her bachelor's degree in education, her master's degree in interrelated special education and her specialist degree in educational leadership. She is employed by the Forsyth County Board of Education and teaches at North Forsyth Middle School.

The future groom is the grandson of the late Fred and Mary Sue Cox of Winder and the late J.W. and June Thompson of Gainesville. He is a graduate of Clarke Central High School and the University of Georgia, where he received a bachelor's degree in history. He also received a master's degree in history from Piedmont College. He is employed by the Gwinnett County Board of Education and teaches at Brookwood High School.

The wedding is planned for June 10 at First Presbyterian Church in Athens.

Ellis - Whitlock

Mr. and Mrs. Bonner T. Ellis of Lawrenceville announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Deidra Ellis, to Kyle Breihan Whitlock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cleo C. Whitlock III of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Central Gwinnett High School and a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia, where she received a bachelor's degree in international business and a bachelor's degree in Spanish. The future groom is a graduate of Central Gwinnett High School and a graduate of Kennesaw State University, where he received a bachelor's degree in communications. He is employed by County Electrical Distributors.
