Police identify pedestrian struck by car

LAWRENCEVILLE - A pedestrian struck by a vehicle last month has been identified after family members recognized a sketch of the man that was published by local media.

Victor Flores, 30, of Loganville, was initially misidentified as Jose David Jurado after the accident April 22. That name actually belongs to Flores' brother-in-law, said Gwinnett County Police Department spokesman Cpl. Darren Moloney.

Family members came forward when they saw a sketch of Flores displayed on local television programs and newspapers seeking the public's help in identifying him.

Flores was listed in fair condition at Gwinnett Medical Center on Friday.

"He is doing well and expected to recover," said Moloney.

Authorities said Flores was walking in the middle of Jimmy Carter Boulevard near Singleton Road about 2:40 a.m. when he was struck by a 1993 Mazda 626. The driver of the Mazda, 26-year-old Garvis Walker, of Tucker, stopped at the scene and cooperated with police.

Flores was reportedly wearing dark clothing and was not crossing at an intersection or designated crosswalk. Walker will not face charges in connection with the accident, Moloney said.
