Red Hot Chili Peppers to play Gwinnett arena

DULUTH - The Red Hot Chili Peppers' newly announced North American tour is slated to include a stop in Gwinnett.

The rock band, known for hits such as "Give It Away," "Under the Bridge," "Scar Tissue" and the new single "Dani California," is scheduled to play at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Oct. 26, with The Mars Volta opening the show, according to the music industry Web site www.pollstar.com. The band's official Web site also lists Gwinnett as a tour stop.

Gwinnett is also on the list for the "American Idols Live" tour, which will return this year to the arena Aug. 3, according to Pollstar and the official Web site for "American Idol."

The concert will feature the top 10 contestants from this season of the hit Fox television show: Paris Bennett, Bucky Covington, Chris Daughtry, Taylor Hicks, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Mandisa, Lisa Tucker, Elliott Yamin and Ace Young.
