Landlord gets into fight with evicted tenant

•NORCROSS - A landlord got into a fight last week with an evicted tenant who refused to leave his old apartment off South Norcross Tucker Road.

The victim was trying to convince the suspect, a man known only as "Troy," to leave when the altercation became physical, according to a police report. The suspect allegedly pulled a steel pipe from his vehicle and began striking the landlord with it.

The landlord then allegedly grabbed his own improvised weapon, an oak stick wrapped in electrical tape, and fought back. The suspect left the apartments in a blue or gray Dodge Caravan before police arrived.

No charges had been filed at the time of the report.

Norcross man beaten with bats

•NORCROSS - A 31-year-old Norcross man was beaten by a group of men wielding baseball bats Saturday at an apartment complex on Willow Trail Drive.

The victim's brother told police he returned home at 2 a.m. and heard his brother yelling for help nearby. Hesaid he allegedly saw a black man and four Hispanic men striking his brother with baseball bats. The suspects fled in a small, white four-door car when confronted by the brother, according to a police report.

The victim's brother identified one of the attackers as a patron of a local nightclub he had visited. Police found two bats and a cell phone used by the suspects at the scene.

The victim was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment of nonlife-threatening injuries.
