First date ends badly for woman

•NORCROSS - A woman on a first date with a man she met on a telephone chat line had to jump out of the car Thursday when her suitor became involved in a police chase.

An officer patrolling Singleton Road at 9:21 p.m. attempted to pull over a Jeep Cherokee with a stolen tag.

Instead of stopping, the driver crossed into oncoming traffic and ran several red lights. The officer discontinued the chase in the interest of public safety, the report said.

Minutes later, a woman called police from a nearby business claiming she had jumped from the fleeing suspect's car. The woman identified the driver as a man named Carlos.

She said she barely knew the driver, since it was their first date. The woman told officers she yelled at him to let her out of the car, then seized an opportunity to jump from the moving vehicle as it slowed near Rockbridge School Road.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man about 27 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 150 pounds with short, spiked black hair.
