Elsie Eugene Holcombe Davis, born June 16, 1911, and died March 18, 2006. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 22, 2006 in the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. Rev. Dewey Yancey, Jr. and Rev. Stacy Myers will officiate. Interment will follow at the Alcovy Baptist Church Cemetery in Lawrenceville. Mrs. Davis was the oldest of the eight children of Oscar Sterling Holcombe and Annie May Ola Clack Holcombe. At the age of 14, after the death of her mother, she helped raise her younger brothers and sisters, the youngest being 7 months old. She was the widow of William Herbert Davis. Before her children were born, she cared for children of relatives during times of illness or death and cared for them as her own. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Alcovy Baptist Church where she taught the Children's Sunday School Class for many years. She always made sure to take her children and grandchildren to as many church activities as she was able to when they were in her care. She worked many jobs besides being a homemaker. She retired from the Gwinnett County office of EOA several years ago. She began there as a volunteer and then began a part-time job there that she really loved. She will also be remembered as the lady who cooked such good biscuits at Edge's Cafeteria for many years. She was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by Sisters: Ollie Bell Holcombe Etheridge, Omie Lou Still; Brothers: Claude Holcombe, Lewis Holcombe, Milton Holcombe and Millard Holcombe; and Son-in-law: Robert Wilson. She is survived by: Daughters and Son-in-law: Faye and David Hunt of Monroe, Georgia, Shirley Wilson of Loganville, Georgia; Five Grandchildren: Joy Hunt Poole of Bethlehem, Georgia, Barry Hunt of Washington, DC, Deborah Wilson Embry, Donna Wilson Brooks and W. Robin Wilson, all of Loganville, Georgia; Twelve Great Grandchildren and four Great Great Grandchildren. Also survived by: Sister: Dorothy Holcombe Huggins of Dacula, Georgia; Sisters-in-law: Maude Holcombe of Monroe, Georgia, Margaret Holcombe of Ball Ground, Georgia, Martha Holcombe of Cumming, Georgia, Annie Maude Davis of Cleveland, Georgia; Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends also survive. James Brock, age 70, of Social Circle, died Friday, March 17, 2006. He was the son of the late Rudy C. and Florence Kraft Brock. Mr. Brock attended Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Harold "Hal" H. Davidson, age 77, of Winder, GA, formerly of Murphy, NC, passed away March 18, 2006 at Embracing Hospice, Snellville, GA. He had bravely endured Alzheimer's Disease for the past six years. He was a loving husband to his wife, Barbara Reid Davidson for 52 years, and a proud, devoted father to two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael & Robin Davidson and Mark & Scarlett Davidson. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Michelle, 17, Joseph, 17, Madeline, 7, Sawyer, 5, and a host of family and friends.
