Stone Mountain fire displaces three

STONE MOUNTAIN - Two children and an adult were displaced in a house fire that injured a Gwinnett County firefighter Wednesday afternoon.

A female occupant and a small child were inside 5110 Salem Drive at the time of the blaze, but escaped unharmed said Thomas Rutledge, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire showing from the garage of the two-story house and one of them suffered a minor burn injury but was treated and released at the scene.

The blaze completely destroyed two cars parked in the garage and sent thick smoke and heat throughout the rest of the home. Firefighters remained on the scene for several hours wetting down hotspots, Rutledge said.

The cause of the fire has been ruled as accidental, Rutledge said.
