LAWRENCEVILLE - Biotechnology company Serologicals Corp. is expanding.
Norcross-based Serologicals plans to acquire the British company Cytomyx Ltd., whose parent company is Cytomyx Holdings. Cytomyx is a leading provider of ion channel cell lines and drug discovery services, which can help companies like Serologicals develop pharmaceuticals that won't cause toxic reactions in the body. Serologicals will use the Cytomyx acquisition to "further strengthen our capabilities within the drug discovery market by enabling our research segment to offer pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies the largest portfolio of ion channel cell lines commercially available today," CEO David Dodd said. Serologicals employs about 1,000 workers worldwide, including 100 at its Peachtree Corners headquarters.More like this story
