Police: Man impregnated daughter, 15

LAWRENCEVILLE - A Jefferson man accused of molesting and impregnating his 15-year-old daughter was arrested Thursday night.

Police believe 33-year-old Michael Wayne Wright began molesting his daughter while they were living at his parents' residence in Lawrenceville in August 2004, when she was 14 years old. Wright later moved with his daughter to a trailer in Jackson County "for more privacy," the arrest warrants state.

More than 100 incidents of molestation or sexual contact allegedly occurred over an eight-month period from August 2004 until March 2005.

The victim subsequently moved to live with her mother in Arizona and made an outcry about the abuse after having a baby boy on July 14, said Cpl. Lou Gregoire, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department.

The victim's parents are divorced. It is the policy of the Gwinnett Daily Post not to identify victims of sexual assault or juveniles, directly or indirectly. The child's last name differs from that of her father.

During the investigation, Detective D.L. Brewster obtained DNA samples from Wright, his daughter and the baby and confirmed that the child is his, Gregoire said.

Wright is on probation in Winder for a prior conviction on charges of sexual battery and criminal damage to property. He faces charges of incest, child molestation, aggravated child molestation and aggravated sexual battery.

Charges are also pending against Wright in Jackson County for allegedly molesting his daughter at his residence there, Gregoire said.
