Cobb-Gwinnett Challenge begins Friday

SUWANEE - Cobb and Gwinnett County feature some of the top track and field runners and teams in the state, so there is only one way to find out who's the best - the Cobb-Gwinnett Challenge.

The meet will be held in Gwinnett this year at Peachtree Ridge High School after Cobb swept the boys and girls titles last year.

"Teams come to compete and represent not only their team but their county," Peachtree Ridge girls track coach Tomy Sitton said.

Seven Cobb teams have signed up and at least 10 Gwinnett teams will be at the meet that begins Friday at 4 p.m.

"Ideally you would like for all the schools to be in it, but everyone does their own thing," Sitton said.

McEachern girls won last year with 116 points followed by Collins Hill with 82. Marietta took home the boys title with 103 points, McEachern was second with 95 and Brookwood was third with 74 points.
