Company to donate thousands to groups

LILBURN - Jackson EMC will give two grants worth $25,000 to local organizations.

The company will give $10,000 to the Dream House for Medically Fragile Children at a ceremony at 2 p.m. today. The grant will help fund the Family for Keeps program, which provides support and education for foster parents caring for children who depend on life support, medication, therapies or equipment to live.

That ceremony will take place at 615 Beaver Ruin Road, Suite B, in Lilburn.

At 3 p.m., Jackson EMC will give the Single Parent Alliance and Resource Center $15,000 to develop and print their Frontline Parenting Series. That program, for single parents, is designed to increase communication and decrease the stress that can lead to violence. It will be held at 2211 Beaver Ruin Road, Suite 160, in Norcross.

The grants are funded by Jackson EMC members who participate in the Operation Round Up program, which rounds up monthly electric bills to the next dollar amount.
