Woman charged with obstruction

NORCROSS - A Norcross woman was arrested Sunday after reportedly struggling with and attempting to bite police officers at her Parklake Court home.

Police responding to a dispute at 4:15 a.m. heard a loud noise in an upstairs bedroom. Medra Lopez allegedly cracked open the door, and officers could see her hair was in disarray and she was breathing heavily. They also got a glimpse of a man standing behind her before the door slammed shut, according to a police report.

When the door opened again, the man appeared to be restraining Lopez, but she reportedly broke loose and tried to punch an officer. Lopez wasn't wearing any clothing below the chest. She allegedly continued to kick and bite at them, the police report stated.

After she was handcuffed, Lopez's husband told police it was his birthday and that he and his wife had been drinking. She allegedly became angry when he tried convincing her to go to bed. Lopez was charged with obstructing law enforcement.
