Armed robber carjacks man
•NORCROSS - A Norcross man was carjacked Monday in the parking lot of Saddlebrook Apartments on Hunt Club Run.
The victim told police he went outside at 10 p.m. to use his uncle's maroon 1996 Chevrolet Blazer. As he approached the vehicle, an unidentified black man wearing dark clothing and black bandanna over his face confronted the victim with a gun, according to a police report. The suspect struck the victim in the face with the gun and then stuck it under his chin.
The robber then threatened to kill the victim if he didn't hand over the car keys. He drove off in an unknown direction, the police report stated.
Three men rob convenience store
•SNELLVILLE - A trio of armed suspects on Monday robbed K & B Food Mart at 3290 Centerville Highway.
A store clerk was behind the business checking gas storage tanks when the suspects, who all wore dark clothing and a mask, followed him back inside. The men forced employees to open the safe and cash register, according to a police report.
The suspect stole lottery tickets and a few cartons of cigarettes and also forced one employee to hand over his wallet. Two of the three suspects were short black men with small builds, and the third was a white man described as being tall and thin.
Small fire causes evacuation at home
•LAWRENCEVILLE - Residents at Delmar Gardens assisted living home were temporarily evacuated Thursday morning after a small stove fire broke out on the second floor.
Firefighters responded to remove smoke from the building at 4:48 a.m. and had the incident under control by 5:10 a.m., said Thomas Rutledge, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Fire Department. The residents were then allowed to return to their rooms. No one was injured in the incident.
