Lena B. Carter, age 78, of Lawrenceville, GA, died May 31, 2006. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, John C. Carter, Jr.; daughters and sons-in-law, Teressa and Burt Cheek of Lilburn, Becky and Barry Turner of Lawrenceville; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Suzanne Carter of Dallas, GA; sister, Sallie and Gene Tarpley of Snellville; grandchildren, Brad Carter, Leah Carter, both of Dallas, GA; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Carter was retired from Rich's Department Store in 1986 after 15 years in sales. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, who loved her family. Member of Corner Stone Baptist Church and a member of Tucker First Baptist Church for 40 years. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 2 at 11am at Wages Snellville Chapel with Pastor Tim Neal officiating. Interment Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Frances D. Daniel, age 88 of Lawrenceville died Wednesday, May 31, 2006. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, June 2, 2006 at First Baptist Church of Lawrenceville. Roy Cates will officiate. Born in Washington, Georgia on March 11, 1918, Mrs. Daniel was preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. Daniel. She is survived by: Children: Aubrey (Daniel, Graham) and George Sensibar, Dacula, Jeff & Carol Daniel, Washington; Grandchildren: Tara & Dave Josephson, Dacula, Tammy & Harry Brantley, Conyers, Jeffery & Debbie Daniel, Bishop, Natalie & Corey Satterfield, Greenville, SC; 14 Great Grandchildren; Brother-in-law: O.A. Denard, Washington; Many Cousins, Nieces & Nephews. Mrs. Daniel was an educator, who taught 37 1/2 years, 35 of these in Gwinnett County. She taught Home Economics at Lawrenceville High School, Central Gwinnett and Occupational Home Economics at Central Gwinnett and Career Center (Maxwell). She attended Danburg High School, Anderson College & graduated from G.S.C.W. in 1939. She was inducted into the Gwinnett County Hall of Fame in May, 1979 for outstanding services in education. Mrs. Daniel received many awards over the years, retiring in May, 1984. She was a member of the Dogwood Garden Club for 50 years and was a lifetime member of the Retired Education Association. She attended First Baptist Church of Lawrenceville since 1952 and was a member of the Bold Believers Sunday School Class. Martha Vann Dudley, age 86 of Snellville, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 3, 2006 in Snellville United Methodist Church Chapel. Rev. Phil DeMore & Rev. Owen Skinner will officiate. Burial Snellville Historical Cemetery. Born in Crenshaw County, AL on Jan. 26, 1920 to Henry Vann & Willie Emma Bradshaw. During WWII, she worked at Army/Air University, Maxwell Field, Montgomery, AL where she met her future husband, Harold Dudley, who was stationed there as a training cadet. Her father is related to Clement Vann, the father of James Vann, Chief of the Cherokee Indians. She & her husband loved traveling, hobbies, geneology & gardening. She was the telephone operator that transferred the message that came from Warm Springs to Atlanta on to Washington D.C. that President Franklin D. Roosevelt had died in April 1945. She was a member of Layona Glenn Circle, H2U Seniors, Senior Coffee Club & Snellville United Methodist Church. She helped in the Church's first Christmon tree, sponsored by Layona Glenn Circle, helped in the church's first directory, on the Communion Committee, a survivor of breast cancer in 1975, helped in Heritage Garden. In 2004 she and her Husband donated the 59th Rich/Macy's Christmas Tree. Mrs. Dudley is survived by her Husband of 61 years, Harold L. Dudley; Son & Daughter-in-law: Sherman & Mary Ann Dudley, Douglas, GA; Daughter & Son-in-law: Sylvia & Ron Willard, Duluth, GA; Grandchildren: Paul Dudley, Mary Catherine Schmitt, Brian Willard & Sarah Willard; Great Grandchildren: Nila Dudley, Priya Dudley & Claire Schmitt; several Nieces & Nephews.
