BARROW COUNTY - Two men were killed Thursday when their pickup truck hit a car that had run a stop sign.
Winder residents Wayne Grant Sears, 42, and Michael Kunis, 52, were driving east on Ga. Highway 82 at 5:45 a.m. Thursday, Georgia State Patrol Trooper C. Bradshaw said.
When a 1999 Ford Contour driven by 28-year-old Winder resident Michael Scott Poston ran a stop sign at Bowman Mill Road, Sears' 1996 Nissan pickup truck hit the passenger side of Poston's car, Bradshaw said.
Bradshaw said charges are pending against Poston while the state patrol's collision reconstruction team completes its investigation.
Poston complained of injuries but did not have any visible signs of injury and was not transported to the hospital, Bradshaw said. Sears, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kunis, who was wearing his seat belt, was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center via helicopter, where he was pronounced dead.
