DULUTH - A 17-year-old from Duluth died shortly after midnight Thursday when he tumbled out of the bed of a truck onto Pleasant Hill Road.
Steven C. Dixon and another boy were riding in the back of a pickup truck being driven by Dixon's mother when he fell out near Woodberry Drive, said Cpl. Darren Moloney, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department. Investigators believe Dixon died upon impact, but the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner's Office will make a final determination on the cause of death. After realizing what had happened, Dixon's mother, Deanna Dixon, returned to the scene. She and the other passenger of the truck are fully cooperating with authorities, Moloney said. No charges have been filed in the case. Police are treating the incident as a suspicious death until the Medical Examiner's Office finishes its investigation.More like this story
