Mr. J. T. Reese, Jr. of Geneva passed away Saturday, July 22, 2006, at home with his wife and children by his side after a courageous 5 years battle with cancer. He was 80. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, at Poplar Head United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Mashburn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Compassionate Hands Hospice, 712 W. Maple Ave., Geneva, AL 36340. Mr. Reese was born in Geneva on December 3, 1925. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Clinton Mills. He was a long time member of Poplar Head United Methodist Church. Preceding Mr. Reese in death are his parents, John Thomas & Effie Evelyn Gilford Reese; three sisters, Annie Lee Gillman, Mary Vaughan, and Martha White; five brothers, Eugene, Oscar, James, Johnny, and George Reese. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Wilfrieda Reese of Geneva; four children, Jimmy (Esther) Reese of Eufaula, Al, Virginia (Billy) Branch of Dothan, Al, Bobby (Marge) Reese of Sugar Hill, GA, and Mark Reese of Mesa, AZ; twelve grandchildren, Jeff & Mike Reese of Mobile, Al, Melissa (Robert) Cade of Saucier, MS, Stephanie (Alan) Wells of Eufaula, Al, Laura Beth (Gary) O'Neil of Buena Vista, GA, Jason Reese of Panacea, FL, Blake & Garrett Branch of Dothan, Al, Danica (Bradley) Robertson of Buford, GA, Brandy Reese of Sugar Hill, GA, Stephen & Taylor Reese of Mesa, AZ; nine great-grandchildren, Courtney & Kaitlyn Cade, Alexis & Cole Woodruff, Colten O'Neil, Austin Reese, Reese & Caleb Robertson, Chase Reese; one sister, Effie Watson of Hawkinsville, GA; two sisters-in-law, Gerlinde Pongratz & Heidi Boschinger of Austria; two brothers-in-law, Walter & Helmut Resch of Austria; several nieces & nephews.
