Be careful what you wish for

•BUFORD - A Welsh woman got her wish Saturday when she was arrested at her Cascade Fall Drive home by a Gwinnett County police officer.

Helen Kay McCarthy, 39, allegedly called 911 and told an officer who responded that she wanted to be arrested so she could tell her friends in Wales what it was like to be in prison in the United States. The officer told McCarthy she was drunk and not thinking right. He advised her to go upstairs and go to bed, but she wouldn't listen, a police report stated.

McCarthy began cursing at the officer and asked, "Why haven't you arrested me yet?" according to the police report. McCarthy was jailed on a disorderly conduct charge.

Man charged with carrying gun

•NORCROSS - A 23-year-old Stone Mountain man was arrested earlier this month for allegedly firing several gunshots into a Champions Park apartment off Graves Road in Norcross.

Jason Quinard Bailey was driving a silver Honda Accord in the area at 10:30 p.m. on July 8 when he was stopped for several traffic violations. An officer noticed a handgun concealed under a T-shirt on the passenger seat and found two small bags of marijuana in the car, according to a police report.

Bailey admitted he recently fired the gun "into the air" at Champions Park Apartments because of a dispute he was having with a girl who lived there. Officers went to check on the apartment and found two bullets had entered a window and lodged in an interior wall. Another projectile was found in a bathtub. The residents were not home at the time of the shooting, the police report stated.

Bailey was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, second-degree criminal damage to property and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
