NORCROSS - The Gwinnett County Fire Department responded to a fire at a strip shopping center about 2 a.m. Tuesday in Norcross and investigators have ruled it to be arson. No injuries were reported.
According to Gwinnett Fire Department spokesman Lt. Thomas Rutledge, Queens Caribbean Restaurant and Club and Ee & Ee Beauty Supply located at 6889 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. received heavy damage from the fire while several other businesses in the shopping center received smoke and water damages. "Evidence indicates that the blaze is incendiary in nature," Rutledge said. "Gwinnett Fire investigators are working jointly with Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearm investigators." Rutledge said a passerby called 911 after reporting flames and heavy smoke coming from the roof of the building. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Gwinnett Fire Arson Section at 678-518-4898 or the Georgia Arson Control Hot Line at 1-800-282-5804. Georgia Arson Control Inc. is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the arson.More like this story
