Mr. Melvin A. Koch, age 80, of Cumming, GA, formerly of Brillion, Wisconsin, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2006 following an extended illness. He was the founder and owner of Rent-A-Truck in Brillion, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrna Behnke Koch and son, Gerald Koch. Mrs. Carol Pou Johnson of Lawrenceville, Ga. - Entered into rest July 3, 2006, at her residence, Mrs. Carol Pou Johnson, 48, of Lawrenceville. Mrs. Johnson was a native of Shreveport, LA and has resided in Lawrenceville for the past 15 years. She worked as a Medical Laboratory Technician at Quest Diagnostics for 20 years. Mrs. Johnson was of the Episcopal faith and a member of the Church of the Resurrection in East Point, GA. She loved everyone she met, including animals, second only to her love for her sons and her husband. She trained for the Susan B. Komen 3 day walk, but was not able to participate. People may say that she lost the battle to cancer but she won - she saw her youngest son graduate from high school and kept her natural hair. Family members include her husband: Ed Johnson; her sons: Ian Johnson and Evan Johnson, both of Lawrenceville; mother: Harriet Pou of Columbus; father: the late Leo H. Catherine (Kitty) Long Thomason, age 81 of Snellville, born in Lawrenceville on October 8, 1924, passed away Monday, July 3, 2006. She was the daughter of Claude and Lizzie Mae Long, preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Richard Thomason; son, Clinton Earl Thomason and grandson, Stephen Forrest Gwin. Survivors include: Children, Michael D. (PhD) and Bridget Thomason of Laguna Nigel, CA, Nancy T. Phillips, Dolores M. Thomason, both of Sugar Hill, Janet and Ronnie Harmon of Flowery Branch, Rick and Dena Thomason of Lilburn, Noree and Mike Kolman of Laceyville, PA; survived by brother Norris Long, of Thomson, GA; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A native of Grayson, Catherine was a lifelong member of Grayson United Methodist Church and graduated from Grayson High School as Valedictorian in 1941. She was wed on September 5, 1942 in Fort Myers, FL. She traveled the world with her husband during his 26 years of service in the United States Air Force. After retiring she and her husband spent time traveling the country in their motor home, during which she spent much of her time crocheting beautiful afghans and baby blankets for friends and family. She was an avid gardener and loved her flowers, particularly her roses and African violets. One of her favorite hobbies was the daily challenge of the crossword puzzles in the local papers. She also loved entertaining friends and family with her, often humorous, stories of the many adventures she enjoyed with her husband and family. But her favorite pastime was caring for her children; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 7 at 11am at Wages Snellville Chapel with Dr. Phil Schroeder officiating. Interment at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Willie (Bill) Gordon, age 73, of Sugar Hill, GA, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2006 after a lengthy battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was the son of the late Raymond S. and Mary Delk Gordon of Long County, GA. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Everette, Robert and James Gordon, and by one sister, Maree G. Smith. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley A. Gordon, Sugar Hill, GA and by his children: son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Gail Gordon, Shellman Bluff, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Griff Moody, Alpharetta, GA; son, Randy Gordon, Sugar Hill, GA; grandchildren, Matthew Gordon, Shellman Bluff, GA, Will and Ashley Anne Moody, Alpharetta, GA. His surviving sisters are Nell G. Horne, Ludowici, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian G. and Robert Simmons, and Jan G. and Gordon Mixon, Ludowici, GA; also, sisters-in-law, Robbie M. Bill was a career Marine, retiring after 21 years of service as a Chief Warrant Officer. He served in Viet Nam in 1968-1969. He worked many years for the Georgia Department of Transportation and for many years with Moreland-Altobelli Associates, Inc. as a Right of Way Manager. All of his life he enjoyed salt water fishing and he loved his grandchildren. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sugar Hill and Ted Jamieson's Sunday School Class. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2006 at 11 A.M. at First Baptist Church, Sugar Hill with remains placed in state at 9:30 A.M.
