Joe W. Lovin, age 76, of Dacula, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2006 at his home. He is survived by his: Wife: Minnie Head Lovin of Dacula, GA; Daughters and Sons in law: Gail & Klancy McMullen of Norcross, GA, Wanda & Danny Cochran of Doraville, GA; son: Danny Lovin of Dacula, GA; Grandchildren: Christy Evans, Jeremy Evans, Alex McMullen and Joey Cochran; Sisters: Helen Wells, Sibyl & Everette Samples, all of Lawrenceville, Runelle Clark of Dacula, GA; Brother in law: Lenore Spain of Bethlehem, GA, Bobby Sikes of Lawrenceville, GA; Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland and Ida (Knight) Lovin; his brother, Horace Lovin; Sisters, Dorothy Spain and Faye Sikes. Joe was born in Gwinnett County, GA and was a US Army Veteran. He retired from GM Doraville as Process Manager after 35 years of service. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he sang in the Choir and sang bass with Joyful Sound Quartet and was a member of the Keystone Sunday School Class. He worked part time at the Hamilton Mill Golf Course. He had coached Little League Baseball and Basketball in Doraville, GA from 1968 -1971 and Dixie Youth Baseball and Basketball from 1972 - 1995. He was a member of the Crystal Creek Hunt Club in Warren & Washington County and was a member of the Dacula Masonic Lodge #433 F&AM where he was past Worshipful Master in 1955 and again in 1967. A Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Dacula. Rev. Jeff Parmer will officiate. The Keystone Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Escorts. A Masonic Graveside Service will follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Joe to the Ebenezer Baptist Church.
