Mrs. Dora Mae Little Elliott, age 90, died at her home in Carl, Georgia on June 30, 2006. She was born May 21, 1916 and was the daughter of Dora Victoria Giles Little and Charles Homer Little, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kelly Elliott, and brothers Charles H. Little, Jr. and Howell D. Little. Mrs. Elliott attended Cox College in Atlanta and graduated from North Georgia College and the University of Georgia. She retired after teaching 35 years in Barrow and Gwinnett Counties. She was one of the first teachers in the state of Georgia to be certified to teach special education and taught children with special needs for nineteen years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winder, retired Gwinnett County Teachers Association, Beta Rho Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Winder Garden Club. Honors included Gwinnett County Association of Educators Hall of Fame, Gwinnett County Teachers Hall of Fame, twice named to WSB-TV Teacher Hall of Fame, Star Teacher at Dacula School, included in Personalities of the South Association, life member of Georgia PTA. Surviving are children-Dwayne K. and wife, Polly Joyner Elliott of Carl, Georgia, Van Elliott and wife Hazel Rolader Elliott of Winder, Georgia, James Nelson "Doc" Elliott of Crawfordville, Florida and Cairo, Georgia, Gaylan Elliott Nix of Gainesville, Georgia; grandchildren-Sammi Elliott Hester, Kelli Elliott Whitfield, Pamela Nix Elms, and Graham H. Nix; great grandchildren-Anna Hester, Ali Hester, Conner Whitfield and Hayden Whitfield; sisters-Elizabeth Akins of Stone Mountain, Georgia and Evelyn Shields of Greenville, South Carolina. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 3, 2006 from the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Eric Daniel Cline, age 45 of Dacula, GA, died Friday, June 30, 2006 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 3, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Rev. Phil Gambill will officiate. Interment will follow in Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens, Buford.
