UGA's Terry College of Business has welcomed a new administrator into the fold. Dale E. Gauthreaux will become director of the Institute for Leadership Advancement. He was leadership development consultant at Capital One Services and adjunct faculty member in leadership studies and communications at the University of Richmond.
National laboratory group Microbac Laboratories Inc. and Gwinnett's MVA Scientific Consultants have announced a strategic alliance. As part of the alliance, MVA Scientific Consultants will serve as Microbac's preferred provider of forensic food microscopy and other microanalytical
Microscopy is the practice of using powerful microscopes to study objects too small to see with the unaided eye. Microscopy is considered to be one of the most powerful tools for studying unknown materials, particles and contaminants in products like food.
SpectRx Inc., a Norcross-based medical equipment and technology company, said its contract with the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism to develop a device to continuously monitor alcohol in the human body was increased by $900,000 and extended for another year. The value of the contract awarded to date is $3.2 million. An additional $500,000 may be awarded in 2007 at NIAAA's option.
A new branch of Haven Trust Bank has opened in the Johns Creek community of North Fulton County just across the Gwinnett County line. A temporary modular facility opened during this summer at 6700 McGinnis Ferry Road, near the intersection of Highway 141. A permanent 12,000-square-foot, two-story building is under construction on the site and should be completed by the fall.
The Fresh Market, an upscale retailer of high-end meats and produce, has opened at 1500 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Suwanee.
