Youth roundup: Brookwood softball team wins third tournament

The Brookwood 12-and-under Major Girls Softball Team made history Saturday by winning the 2006 Tri County Softball Championship.

The team became the first Brookwood softball team to win the Tri County, Pre Tri County and South Gwinnett Summer Classic Tournament in the same year.

The team ended with a 14-1 record after completing in all three tournaments,

Team members are Alexis Jumper, Candace Roper, Caroline Erickson, Courtney Erickson, Jayla Hood, Jessica Hambrick, Kayla Doerstling, Meridith Doerstling, Kiandra Brady, Leslie Lanier, Madison Shields and Maria Konidaris.

The coaching staff includes Mike Erickson, Pete Hood, Jeff Lanier, Wally Hambrick and Bud Jumper.


Dacula team wins Dixie Youth tournament

The Dacula T-Ball National All-Star Baseball team won the 2006 Dixie Youth Sub-District Tournament at Buford.

The team won five games in five days, including a great defensive effort in winning the championship game 9-2. Dacula advances to the 2006 Dixie Youth District tournament at North Gwinnett.

Team Members are Michael Albee, Bailey Bass, Mekhail Bethea, Matthew Boretski, Jonathan Frank, Preston Hagan, Jevin Jackson, Brandon Jolliff, Grant McDonel, Luke Medley, Derek Nutt, Cody Reynolds, Davis Sharpe and Mitchell Shreiner. The is coached by Steven Nutt, Shawn Medley, Joe Boretski and Jim McDonel.

Dacula Gold All Stars win Tri-County

The Dacula Gold All Star girls softball 6-and-under T-ball team won the Tri-County Tournament.

The tournament win was the third for the team this season as they finished 15-0.

Team members are Emma Bell, Kayleigh Burns, Gianna DeSandre, Rebecca Greene, Natalie Joyner, Torrey Kimbrel, Katherine Koslowski, Ansley Mcgiboney, Amanda Natsch, Graye Salter, Hannah Todd and Chandler Wright. The team is coached by Andy Greene, Jamey Wright, Kelly Todd, Gina Burns and Danny Burns.


Worth Cobras Black 10U win GSA Heating Up Tournament

The 10U Worth Cobras Black fast pitch softball team went undefeated at the GSA Heating Up Tournament held June 24 in Woodstock.

In four wins the Cobras outscored their opponents by a score of 26-2.

Team members are Queen Briggs, Danna Downs, Abby Dudman, Katie Etheridge, Alex Frazier, Ansley Jones, Mallori Joyner, Samantha Parham, Taiylor Rinehart and Sheridan Schuster. The team is coached by Scott Jones, Mike Joyner and Kelly Rinehart.

Mad Dogs headed to national tournament

The North Gwinnett Mad Dogs, a 12U fast pitch softball team based out of George Pierce Park in Suwanee, will represent the state of Georgia at the USA/ASA National Tournament in Bloomington, Ind., July 30 through Aug. 6.

The team earned their berth by placing first at the Capital City Invitational tournament in Tallahassee, Fla., held June 9-11.

The team members are Kallie Case, Melissa Dickie, Karly Fullem, Chandler Griffin, Lauren Kaczynski, Caitlin McClure, Mary Moore, Kodi Ricketson, Lauren Shaw and Chelsie Thomas.

Lady Falcons take Tri-County tourney

The Dacula Lady Falcons 18-and-under All Stars won the Tri-County tournament at Shorty Howell Park last Saturday.

The team came out of the losers bracket to win four straight games on Saturday to win the tournament that consisted of teams from Gwinnett, Walton and Barrow counties.

Team members are Kayla Sosebee, Sarah Yarbrough, Amanda Franklin, Shannon Gordon, Amber Hoge, Krystan Renfro, Heather Miller, Maritza Yarbough, Diana Casper and Morgan Gay. The team is coached by Randy Franklin and Steve Sosebee. The team mom is Chelle Sosebee.
