Woman escapes carjacking
•LILBURN - A female college student from Lilburn narrowly escaped being carjacked at gunpoint Wednesday at the intersection of Tom Smith Road and River Drive. The woman was stopped at a red light at the intersection shortly after midnight when a dark-colored, boxy passenger car pulled up beside her car. A passenger in the suspect vehicle got out and walked up to her car just as the woman locked her doors, according to a police report. When he was unable to open the passenger door, the suspect pointed a short-barreled or sawed-off shotgun at her. The woman slammed her foot on the gas pedal, ran the red light and drove to her house before calling police. She was unable to provide a description of the driver, except that the man wore a dark-colored hat. The passenger wore dark clothing and a mask to obscure his face, the police report stated. Buford man arrested after argument •BUFORD - A Buford man was arrested Tuesday in connection with allegedly roughing up his girlfriend, who is four-months pregnant, at Hartford Run Apartments. The victim told police that she and her live-in boyfriend, 24-year-old Jason McNamara, got into an argument about money and other problems. McNamara then "lost his mind" and started throwing things around the apartment, according to a police report. He allegedly threw his girlfriend on the bed and held her down to prevent her from leaving. The girlfriend stated that she broke free and ran to a bathroom to call 911. However, minutes later McNamara pulled her out by her arms, leaving several marks and bruises on her, the police report said. The girlfriend ran to a neighboring apartment and was later taken to the hospital as a precaution. McNamara was arrested that evening on a battery charge. - From wire reportsMore like this story
