Two men assaulted by group
•NORCROSS - A Norcross man and his friend were attacked on Sunday by a group of Hispanic men wielding a crowbar in the Azteca Plaza shopping center at 6100 Live Oak Parkway.
The victim was walking out of a business in the plaza at 7:30 p.m. when he was confronted by the group. The suspects struck him over the head several times with a crowbar, causing three deep lacerations, according to a police report.
The victim's friend attempted to intervene, but the suspects turned on him and struck him in the forearm with the crowbar. During the incident, the attackers also stole the friend's watch. Both men were taken to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Shell gas station robbed
•TUCKER - Two unidentified black men on Monday robbed the Shell Food Mart at 2960 Mountain Industrial Blvd.
The clerk was leaving at midnight when the suspects walked up and forced him back into the store, according to a police report. The robbers took the clerk's cell phone, keys and wallet before taking money from the store. While in the store, they pushed the clerk onto the floor and held a gun to his head. The robbers fled in an unknown direction.
One of the suspects is described as a black man between 23 and 28 years old, about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds with short curly hair and a clean-cut beard. The other suspect was described as short and skinny, about 115 pounds, and approximately 28 years old.
Men beat kitten to death
•NORCROSS - Two drunk men beat a kitten to death Monday evening near a home on Forest Vale Drive.
A neighbor called police to say two men across the street were standing near some garbage cans beating and throwing beer bottles at a kitten. The men seemed "very intoxicated," according to a police report.
Police arrived to find the kitten could barely move or breathe and the men were nowhere to be found. The officers placed the kitten in a box and took it to a nearby park to meet with Animal Control officers, but it died on the way, the report said.
