James Holland Briscoe, Sr., age 83 of Lawrenceville, GA, passed away on January 23, 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Ab Daniel Briscoe and Rosa Lee Jones Briscoe, son, Donald Ruben Briscoe, grandsons, Benjamin & Paul Briscoe, sister, Gladys Miller and brothers, Lewis Briscoe and Calvin Biddy Briscoe. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Susie D. Briscoe. Other survivors include: Children: Doris Elaine & Terry Ford, Centerville, James Jimmy & Cay Briscoe, Jr., Snellville, Marilyn Rosa Briscoe, Lawrenceville, Joe Daniel & Shelia Briscoe, Auburn, Roy Allen & Melinda Briscoe, Loganville; Grandchildren: James Holland Jack Briscoe, III & Nicole, Asheville, NC, Michelle & David McMillan, Snellville, Tracy & Greg Hlozek, Oxford, Melissa & Jason Brown, Snellville, Trey Wood, Athens, Travis & Jessica Ford, Centerville, Matthew Shaw, Oceana Naval Base, Virginia, Tamarah & Tim Schaefer, Bethlehem, Dusti Wood, Auburn, Meagan Shaw, Lawrenceville; Great Grandchildren: Tessa, Caitlin & Hayden McMillan, Snellville, Austin & Madison Brown, Snellville, Kaylie Schaefer, Bethlehem; Mother-in-Law: Mrs. Ruben Effie Dutton, Snellville; Brothers & Sisters: Rachel Briscoe, Grayson, Martha Holcombe, Clarkston, John Briscoe, Commerce, Runelle Williams, Gainesville, Ellen Ginny Atkinson, Franklin; Many nieces & nephews and friends who loved him. Mr. Briscoe was retired from General Motors, Doraville, GA UAW Local 10. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He lived on Scenic Highway in Snellville for 41 years where he enjoyed farming, especially growing tomatoes, collards and goats. Until his death he enjoyed raising Boer goats and riding his John Deere tractor to the barn daily. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. He was a WWII Army Veteran of the battles of Okinawa, Guam & Angar. He was proud to be an American and believed that we should support our country by buying American. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 26 at 11 A.M. at Wages Lawrenceville Chapel with Rev. David Harrill, & Rev. Jeff Gongwer officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. and Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1525 Scenic Hwy., Snellville, GA 30078, Tom M.
