Programs give those with disabilities the opportunity to succeed

Opening doors and creating possibilities for people with disabilities is the cornerstone of Creative Enterprises Inc.'s (CEI) mission.

Here we strive to give individuals with disabilities every opportunity to succeed and become contributing members of the community. We offer a variety of services. These services are day habilitation, work adjustment, employment training, job placement and social skills, along with recreational and educational programming.

Our production center provides hands-on training for our clients in the areas of assembly, packaging, sorting and collating products for local businesses who contract with us to do this work.

Our program is diverse and unique, allowing for personal growth at each individual's own pace and at the same time reinforcing goals and reaching for dreams through the support and encouragement of our staff.

CEI is accredited in all three of our main programs by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. Individuals are referred to CEI through the Department of Labor/Vocational Rehabilitation, Medicaid waiver programs and private pay.

CEI is continually striving to improve and create new and innovative programs for the individuals we serve. Examples of these are our art program, animal care and therapy and horticultural programs. Funding new programs is a challenge for all nonprofits.

To meet this challenge, CEI holds two major fundraisers each year.

One of these fundraisers is our masquerade ball, to be held at Emerald Point Resort and Conference Center on Lake Lanier Islands in Buford. The Masquerade Ball will take place from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Feb. 18.

This is an exciting event with a Mardi Gras theme. Guests will enjoy a real Mardi Gras float designed and built by Barry Kerns Studio in New Orleans, dinner, a live band for dancing and a live and silent auction. Tickets are $125 per person.

For ticket or sponsorship information, call CEI at 770-962-3908 and ask for Judy Middleton or Christy Carter.
