SUWANEE - The top-ranked Collins Hill girls played their best defensive game of the year as it rolled past Peachtree Ridge 64-17 on Saturday.
Collins Hill allowed only three baskets after the first quarter and shot 46 percent from the field to put the game out of reach. Junior standout Maya Moore led the Eagles with 16 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and three blocks. Brittany Cade and Shakeda Richie both had solid games scoring 10 points apiece.
South 81, Centennial 32
ROSWELL - South Gwinnett (18-3, 10-0) continued its impressive season with a 81-32 win over Centennial on Saturday.
Mandi Dudish led the Comets with 24 points. Alex Winchell and Emily Clarke both had strong nights with 11 points each.
Dacula 54, Norcross 48
DACULA - Abbie Daniel continued her stellar season as she led Dacula over Norcross in a 7-AAAAA match up on Saturday. The sophomore paced the Falcons with 22 points to lead all scorers.
Brittany Jarrard chipped in with 15 points and Eve Machovec had 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Jasmine Goodwin led Norcross (14-8) with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Janee Thomas added 16 points and nine rebounds.
Meadowcreek 37, Providence 34
NORCROSS - Genea Williams led Meadowcreek with 12 points and five assists as it defeated Providence 37-34 on Saturday. Camille Jackson added eight points, 10 rebounds and five blocks.
Carli West led Providence with 12 points.
Grayson 46, Duluth 21
DULUTH - Grayson started the game on a 16-0 scoring run to put things out of reach as it rolled past Duluth 46-21 on Saturday.
Adrianne Griffith led the Rams with a game-high 21 points and Michelle O'Quinn added 12 points.
Laura Moore led Duluth (8-15, 4-2) with 12 points.
Buford 88, Apalachee 42
WINDER - Vicky Wilson set a school-record with ten 3-pointers to lead Buford past Apalachee 88-42 on Saturday.
Wilson scored a game-high 39 points and Shannon Wilson added 13 points. Amber Janus led Apalachee with 15 points.
Hebron 57, Tallulah Falls 21
DACULA - Rachael Duval and Meredith Montgomery both had 14 points as they led Hebron Christian (14-6, 6-1) past Tallulah Falls 57-21 on Saturday. Mindy Montgomery had 11 points and Amy Herald added 14 rebounds for the Lions.
Norcross 81, Dacula 56
DACULA - Norcross (18-3) had five players in double figures as it rolled past Dacula 81-56 in Region 7-AAAAA on Saturday.
Kentucky signee Jodie Meeks led the Blue Devils with a game-high 29 points and Gani Lawal added 13 points. Jarrett Stokes and Brenton Butler both chipped in with 11 points apiece. Tony Neysmith had 10 points.
Kenny Jeffries led Dacula with 14 points.
South 59, Centennial 58
ROSWELL - South Gwinnett pulled out a hard-fought victory as it defeated Centennial 59-58 on Saturday. Michael Chatman led the Comets with 14 points.
Roby Johnson led Centennial with 11 points.
Meadowcreek 84, Providence 46
NORCROSS - Meadowcreek (18-4, 9-1) got off to a quick start and never looked back as it rolled past Providence 84-46 on Saturday.
Teondre Williams led the Mustangs with 16 points and five rebounds and Chris Allen had 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Efosa Iguabomwen scored all of his 14 points in the fourth quarter, he also had seven assists and five rebounds.
Carter Rice led Providence with 10 points.
Collins Hill 77, Peachtree Ridge 66
SUWANEE - Collins Hill (14-6, 9-1) had four players in double figures as it topped Peachtree Ridge 77-66 in Region 7-AAAAA on Saturday.
Antron Pippen and Joe Johnson both had 19 points apiece. Westley Telfare had a strong night with 15 points and eight assists and Emmanuel Perry chipped in with 13 points.
Zach Graham led Peachtree Ridge with 26 points.
Duluth 43, Grayson 40
DULUTH - Greg Carson and Eugene Sain both had 11 points as they led Duluth (8-14) past Grayson 43-40 on Saturday. John Cheesman led Grayson with 10 points.
Buford 86, Apalachee 56
WINDER - Justin Roper led Buford (14-5, 2-3) with 23 points as it rolled past Apalachee 86-56 on Saturday. Terrance Burdette added 19 points and Mark Swanson chipped in with 15 points.
Zack Spratling led Apalachee with 19 points.
Tallulah Falls 66, Hebron 53
DACULA - Hebron Christian fell just short as it lost to Tallulah Falls 66-53 on Saturday. James Floyd led Hebron with 15 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Bobby Cole also had a strong night with 14 points, seven assists and four rebounds
Wolves have a strong finish
MACON - Wesleyan had a strong showing at the state duals on Saturday.
The Wolves started off in the hole, having to forfeit all of its 103-pound matches for the tournament. Wesleyan beat Pepperell 33-27, but lost to Cook 39-36 and then to Lovett 40-22 in the consolation semifinals.
Wesleyan had five wresters go undefeated during the tournament: Sam Bell (112), Jay Heslin (135), Kip Thompson (140), Michael Douglas (160) and Kelby Smith (189).
Edward VanWinkle had a strong showing in the tournament winning two matches. His lone loss came when he was moved up from 215 to the heavyweight class.
