Carl Setzer Sowell of Lawrenceville, age 59, died at home Friday, January 20, 2006, following a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Leila "Le" McKenzie Sowell; two daughters, Ashley Nicole Sowell of New York, NY, and Carla Raye Wilson of Bethlehem, GA; and his mother, Mardelle Sowell of Conyers, GA. He is preceded in death by his father, Carl. Setzer was born July 22, 1946, in Griffin, GA. After graduating from high school, he joined the US Army, where he served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. He entered the electrical industry in 1970 as a manufacturers representative, and became President of Electrical Sales & Marketing (formally McKenzie-Sowell-Woodyard) in 1985. He was known throughout the industry for his quick wit and humor, and always had a story to tell. He never met a stranger, and never had an enemy. He was most recently employed by Electrical Products, Inc., whose management and employees became his extended family and support during his battle with cancer. He was a member of the Greater Atlanta Electric League, and past President of the Fellowship of Businessmen. His body will be cremated. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM, Sunday, January 22, 2006 at the funeral home.
