Whitworth - Hay
Robert and Debbie Whitworth of Elberton announce the engagement of their daughter, Brianna Michelle Whitworth, to Joseph Godfrey Hay Jr., son of Joseph and Lisa Hay of Thomasville.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Medical College of Georgia and works in ultrasound at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens. She is the granddaughter of Bob and Betty Powell of Lawrenceville and the late Bob and Christine Whitworth.
The future groom is a graduate of Valdosta State University, where he received his bachelor's degree in biology and went on to recieve a degree in radiography at Georgia Southwestern Technical College. He works at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens. He is the grandson of Lawanna Hay and the late James G. Hay and Elizabeth Ross and the late Hugh Ross, all of Thomasville.
The wedding is planned for Feb. 4 at First Baptist Church Lawrenceville.
Martindale - Baker
Earl and Kirsten Martindale of Buford announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Grace Martindale, to Kevin Andrew Baker, son of Gerald and Karen Baker of Dacula.
The bride-elect is a 2002 graduate of Buford High School and a senior at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, where she will receive her bachelor's degree in sports management from the School of Kinesiology this spring.
The future groom is a 2001 graduate of Philadelphia Christain School and a 2005 graduate of Bob Jones University, where he received a bachelor's degree in auto-diesel mechanics. He is enrolled as a student in the Bob Jones University School of Business Adminsitration.
An Aug. 12 wedding is planned at Berean Baptist Church in Lilburn. The couple plans to reside in Greenville. S.C.
Ward - Bess
Dr. and Mrs. Earl S. Ward Jr. of Grayson announce the engagement of their daughter. Lauren Elizabeth Ward, to Derek Jason Bess of Fitzgerald, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Bess of Ocilla.
The bride-elect is a 2000 graduate of South Gwinnett High School. She completed her pre-pharmacy work at Georgia Southern University, where she was a member of of Phi Mu sorority and is enrolled in the Doctor of Pharmacy program at Mercer University School of Pharmacy in Atlanta. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph B. Murray of Buford and the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl S. Ward.
The future groom is a 1996 graduate of Irwin County High School and received a bachelor's degree in industrial management (emphasis on engineering) from Georgia Southern University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He is employeed with Delphi Corporation as the environmental plant engineer. He is the grandson of Mrs. JessieMae Rowell and the late Mr. Waldo Rowell and Mrs. Lillie Bess and the late Mr. Eugene Bess, all of Ocilla.
The wedding is planned for May 20 at Snellville United Methodist Church.
Shackelford - Estafen
Joseph J. Estafen and Beverly G. Shackelford announced their engagement at a Christmas and engagement party given in their honor on Dec. 3.
The future groom, a longtime Gwinnett resident is a graduate of the University of Akron. He is employed by Prudential Georgia Realty. The bride-elect is a native of Habersham County and resides in Dacula. She is employed by the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia as the director of finance.
A June wedding is planned at the Catholic Church of St. Monica in Duluth.
