Man arrested on battery charge
LILBURN - A Lilburn man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly tried to choke his girlfriend and she struck him over the head with a glass bottle.
Torlandus Seals, 28, showed up at 12:30 a.m. at the front door of a house on Wilton Lane. The homeowner let Seals inside because he was bleeding from the head, and Seals subsequently collapsed onto the floor.
When police arrived, Seals appeared intoxicated and he kept repeating that his girlfriend hit him on the head with a bottle. Officers went to the girlfriend's house on the same street to question her.
The girlfriend and her father told police Seals came home drunk and started an argument with her. He then allegedly began choking her, and she claimed she hit him with the glass bottle in an attempt to get away.
An officer noted red marks on the woman's neck seemed to corroborate her story. Seals was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center, where he was given 10 stitches to close the cut on his head. Then he was taken to jail on a charge of battery.
