DACULA - Hebron broke open a close game with a late surge Friday night as the Lions defeated Towns County 59-51 in Region 8-A play.
Junior Meredith Montgomery led Hebron (15-6, 5-1) with 21 points and 10 steals while reaching a milestone in the first quarter as she scored her 1,000th career point. Courtney Odum added 14 points and Rachel Duval scored 10 while Amy Herald helped lead the late charge with nine points and seven rebounds.
Collins Hill 66, Chattahoochee 21
ALPHARETTA - Maya Moore logged 26 points, 13 rebounds, nine steals, six blocks and five assists Friday night as top-ranked Collins Hill routed Chattahoochee 66-21.
Jordan Jones added eight points, four assists and four steals while Brittany Cade chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds. Collins Hill (19-1, 7-0) played without the services of sophomore forward Taylor Dalrymple, who is out for the rest of the season with a torn ACL.
Norcross 43, Northview 40
DULUTH - Norcross pulled into first place in Region 7-AAAAA South by edging Northview 43-40 Friday night. The Blue Devils improved to 14-7 overall and 4-1 in the subregion while Northview fell to second place in the subregion at 4-2.
Jasmine Godwin had a huge night for Norcross with 23 points, eight rebounds and seven assists while Janee Thomas chipped in eight points.
South 65, Meadowcreek 36
SNELLVILLE - Three Comets hit for double figures in points, led by 15 from Emily Clarke, as South Gwinnett cruised past Meadowcreek 65-36 Friday night in Region 8-AAAAA action.
Antionette Howard added 14 points for South (17-3, 10-0) and Gia Lockett chipped in with 10 points as the Comets stayed atop the region standings. Meadowcreek, which fell to 0-10 in the region, was led by 11 points from Brooke Wigfall and 11 points and eight rebounds from Camille Jackson.
Grayson 61, Central 44
LAWRENCEVILLE - Grayson led by 14 points at halftime against Central Gwinnett and put the game away with a 23-13 run in the third quarter to down the Black Knights 61-44 on Friday night.
Ten different Rams scored, led by 14 points from Adrianne Griffith and 10 from Michaela Green. Both teams are now tied in Region 8-AAAAA at 4-6.
North 41, South Forsyth 37
CUMMING - North Gwinnett trailed South Forsyth 28-22 at the half but a strong defensive effort in the second half helped the Bulldogs rally for a 41-37 win on Friday.
Lisa Jennings led North with 14 points and four assists while Jolie Efezokhae added 10 points and five rebounds. North improved to 19-3 overall and 6-1 in Region 7-AAAAA North.
Brookwood 47, Shiloh 39
SNELLVILLE - Brookwood improved to 7-3 in Region 8-AAAAA Friday night by beating Shiloh 47-39. Chioma Okoli led Brookwood with 20 points while Lisa Reid added 14 points. Ashley Green also finished with 11 rebounds and seven points.
Courtney Strauthers led Shiloh (13-8, 4-6) with 17 points while Jessica Baker scored 12.
Duluth 47, Centennial 39
ALPHARETTA - Duluth's Laurie Thomas finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds as the Wildcats ground out a 47-39 win at Centennial on Friday night. The win improved Duluth to 8-14 overall and into a tie at second place in Region 7-AAAAA South at 4-2 with Northview.
Mykala Walker also had a solid game for Duluth with 11 points.
East Hall 45, GAC 44, OT
GAINESVILLE - East Hall defeated Greater Atlanta Christian 45-44 in overtime on Friday night. D'Nay Daniels led GAC (16-5, 8-2) with 15 points.
Memphis 57, GGC 39
NORCROSS - Greater Gwinnett Christian received 17 points and seven rebounds from Jayme Raab and 10 points and seven boards from Michelle Smith, but the Barons fell short 57-39 to Memphis on Friday night.
Shiloh 63, Brookwood 47
SNELLVILLE - Jamal Smith scored 11 points Friday night in leading Shiloh to a 63-47 win over Brookwood in Region 8-AAAAA play. The win improved the Generals (17-4 overall) to 9-1 in the region, keeping the Shiloh ahead of second-place Meadowcreek.
Brookwood (3-7 in region) was led by a game-high 19 points from Rashaad Hannah.
Meadowcreek 82, South 70
SNELLVILLE - Chris Allen finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds and six assists Friday night to lead Meadowcreek 82-70 over South Gwinnett in Region 8-AAAAA play.
Teondre Williams added 23 points, 14 rebounds, seven steals and five blocks for Meadowcreek (17-4, 8-2) while Mark Veasey added 14 points and 12 boards. South (5-5 in region) was paced by Delano Howard's 19 points.
Norcross 72, Northview 40
DULUTH - Jodie Meeks led all scorers with 19 points Friday night as Norcross rolled past Northview 72-40.
Brenton Butler added 14 points for the Blue Devils while Tony Neysmith chipped in with 12 points. Norcross improved to 17-3 overall and 5-0 in Region 7-AAAAA South.
Parkview 96 Berkmar 77
LILBURN - Five Parkview players scored in double figures as the Panthers rolled past Berkmar 96-77 Friday night in Region 8-AAAAA play.
Leading the way for Parkview (14-7, 7-3) was Evan Gold (20 points), Ty Rowland (19 points, seven assists), Michael Palmer (17 points), Yaw Gyawu (16 points) and Scott McVicker (13 points). Ben Sharp led Berkmar with 20 points.
Central 60, Grayson 47
LAWRENCEVILLE - Sam Goodman scored 24 points (11 in fourth quarter) Friday night as Central Gwinnett defeated Grayson 60-47. Richard Howell added 15 points as Central improved to 8-13 overall and 4-6 in Region 8-AAAAA.
John Cheesman led Grayson with 15 points.
Collins Hill 54, Chattahoochee 51
ALPHARETTA - Three Collins Hill players scored in double-figures Friday night as the Eagles held on to beat Chattahoochee 54-51.
Emmanuel Perry led the Eagles (13-6, 6-1) with 25 points while Westley Telfare finished with 11 points and eight assists and Antron Pippen added 10 points and five assists.
Hebron 56, Towns Co. 39
DACULA - Ben Cohen had 21 points and 10 rebounds Friday night as Hebron knocked off Towns County 56-39 in a Region 8-A game. James Floyd added 10 points and six boards for Hebron (4-11, 2-5).
Mill Creek 54, Dacula 51
DACULA - Spencer Gay scored 15 points and Jermaine Jackson added 14 more as Mill Creek nipped Dacula 54-51 Friday night. Mill Creek improved to 10-12 overall and 4-3 in Region 7-AAAAA North.
Dacula was led by 12 points from Kenny Jeffries.
Heritage 44, Loganville 40
CONYERS - Heritage topped Loganville 44-40 on Friday night. Loganville (10-9, 2-2) was led by 11 points from Clivins Volcy.
East Hall 98, GAC 74
GAINESVILLE - East Hall, ranked No. 1 in Class AA, defeated visiting Greater Atlanta Christian 98-74 on Friday.
Reece Wiedeman led GAC (10-11, 4-6) with 31 points and 11 rebounds while Wade Weldon added 22 points.
South Forsyth 69, North 61
CUMMING - North dropped to 7-14 overall and 2-5 in Region 7-AAAAA North Friday night with a 69-61 loss at South Forsyth. Adam Demuyakor led North in scoring with 23 points.
GGC 65, Memphis 25
NORCROSS - Greater Gwinnett Christian improved to 23-3 Friday night with a 65-25 win over Memphis. Edward Jackson had 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead GGC while J.D. Davis added 18 points and Jared Martz grabbed 12 rebounds.
