Stone Mountain Park to hire more than 500 employees

STONE MOUNTAIN - Stone Mountain Park plans to fill more than 500 positions for the 2006 season. The park is holding a job fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 4, looking for candidates to fill open jobs in the areas of food, merchandise, attractions, campground, parking, grounds and more. Interested people are encouraged to bring their resume, or they can complete a job application when they arrive. Interviews will be conducted on the spot.

The fair will be held at the Forrest Hills Baptist Church gymnasium, 6826 James B. Rivers Memorial Drive. The gym is outside of the west gate entrance to the park near Stone Mountain Village.

Benefits include parking, admission to park attractions, tickets for family and friends, discounts on food and merchandise, discounts at area retailers, health and dental insurance and more. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Stone Mountain Park is an equal opportunity employer.

Prevent-A-Litter campaign begins in February

LAWRENCEVILLE - To help reduce the number of unwanted dogs and cats born each year, a group of veterinarians in cooperation with Gwinnett Humane Society have agreed to spay/neuter cats and dogs at a reduced rate throughout February.

The prices are: cat neuter (male) $35, cat spay (female) $40, Cat spay (female in heat $50), dog neuter (male) $45, Dog spay (female) $50, Dog spay (female in heat) $60. Additional fees may be charged for dogs weighing more than 60 pounds. Additional services, if required, are the responsibility of the pet owner.

'Shadows & Light' exhibit to open

LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation and Pinckneyville Community Center are hosting a new art exhibit, "Shadows & Light," at the Centerville Community Center in Snellville.

The exhibit features photography by Jay Kuhr.

A reception with light refreshments will be held at the Centerville Community Center from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 26, with an opportunity to meet the artist. The exhibit will be on display Jan. 25 through March 30. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.
