Wesleyan sets school record for points with 130-61 win

NORCROSS - Wesleyan scored a school record 130 points as it dominated Rabun County 130-61 on Friday.

Howard Thompkins continued his stellar season with 26 points and 14 rebounds. Tanner Smith added 17 points and a school-record 20 assists. Peter Karempelis also had a solid game with 25 points and Sean Campbell had 13 points and 18 rebounds. Wesleyan had six players in double figures.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Norcross 70, Peachtree Ridge 47

NORCROSS - Norcross (16-2, 4-0) overcame a slow start and dominated the second quarter as it defeated Peachtree Ridge 70-47 on Friday in Region 7-AAAAA.

The No. 2 Blue Devils were led by Kentucky signee Jodie Meeks, who led all scorers with 19 points. Tony Neysmith added 18 points and Brenton Butler had 15 points.

Peachtree Ridge was led by Sidney Haynes' 16 points.

Meadowcreek 82, Grayson 60

LOGANVILLE - Chris Allen led Meadowcreek (13-5, 6-2) past Grayson in Region 8-AAAAA on Friday 82-60. Teondre Williams also had a strong night with 15 points, eight rebounds, and six steals. Senior Calvin Ford chipped in with four points, six rebounds, seven steals, and 11 assists.

Mario Bassey led Grayson with 11 points.

South 50, Brookwood 44

SNELLVILLE - Delano Howard led South Gwinnett with 25 points as it defeated Brookwood 50-44 in region 8-AAAAA action Friday.

Russ Tanner led Brookwood with 21 points.

Collins Hill 67, Dacula 57

DACULA - Emmanuel Perry scored 21 points to lead all scorers as Collins Hill (10-6, 4-4) topped 67-57 on Friday in Region 7-AAAAA.

Antron Pippen also added 20 points and Westley Telfair had 12 points and eight assists.

Justin Rush led Dacula with 18 points, including six 3-pointers.

Chattahoochee 54, North 32

SUWANEE - Chattahoochee (8-10, 2-3) was led by Justin McNal's 15 points as it topped North Gwinnett 54-32 Friday.

Abuka Anyaorah led North (7-11, 2-3) with nine points.

Mill Creek 68, South Forsyth 57

CUMMING - Will Yarborough led Mill Creek (7-11, 6-3) with 26 points as it defeated South Forsyth 68-57 on Friday. Jason Jones added 16 points.

Jacob Patterson led South Forsyth with 29 points.

Berkmar 41, Central 29

LILBURN - Berkmar slipped past Central Gwinnett in a defensive struggle Friday in Region 8-AAAAA 41-29. Patrick Shopeka led all scorers on the night with 13 points.

GAC 54, Providence 42

LILBURN - Taylor Wood scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds as he led Greater Atlanta Christian (10-9, 4-4) over Providence 54-42 on Friday in Region 8-AA.

GAC put the game out of reach with a 9-0 scoring run to start the second half. Reece Wiedeman chipped in with 15 points for the Spartans.

Andrew Hartley led Providence (6-12) with 16 points.

East Hall 98, Buford 87

BUFORD - Buford gave top-ranked East Hall a run for its money before falling 98-87 on Friday night.

Hebron 60, Athens Christian 50

ATHENS - Hebron started the second half on a 7-0 run to put the game out of reach as it defeated Athens Christian 60-50 on Friday.

Bobby Cole led Hebron with 22 points. Ben Coen added 19 points and seven rebounds.

George Walton Academy 52,

Westminster (Augusta) 48

MONROE - Bo Holder scored 18 points to lead George Walton Academy past Westminster (Augusta) 52-48 on Friday. Jeb Edwards chipped in with 18 points.

Eastside 50, Loganville 42

LOGANVILLE - Torrio Cook scored a game-high 22 points to lead Eastside past Loganville 50-42 on Friday.

Clevins Voley led Loganville (9-8, 1-1) with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Greater Gwinnett 98, Macon Area Christian 46

MACON - Michael Stanley led Greater Gwinnett with 24 points, nine rebounds, eight steals and seven assists over Macon Area Christian 98-46 on Friday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Collins Hill 94, Dacula 39

DACULA - No. 1 Collins Hill dominated from start to finish as it rolled past Dacula 94-39 on Friday in Region 7-AAAAA.

Junior standout Maya Moore led all scorers with 24 points. Renee Jackson added 15 points.

Abbie Daniel led Dacula with 12 points.

South 69, Brookwood 47

SNELLVILLE - South Gwinnett (15-3, 8-0) got a total team effort as it defeated Brookwood 69-47 on Friday in Region 8-AAAAA.

The No. 5 Comets were led by Gia Lockett's game-high 16 points. Alex Winchell chipped in with 11 points.

Sophomore Courtney Mclane led Brookwood with 11 points.

Grayson 56, Meadowcreek 31

LOGANVILLE - Grayson (8-9, 3-5) jumped out to a 16- point first half lead and dominated the second half as it rolled 56-31 on Friday Meadowcreek. Adrianne Griffith led all scorers on the night with 19 points for the Rams. Michelle O'Quinn chipped in with 11 points.

Genea Williams led Meadowcreek with 10 points.

Norcross 55, Peachtree Ridge 35

NORCROSS - Jasmine Goodwin led Norcross (13-6, 3-1) with 34 points as it defeated Peachtree Ridge 55-35 on Friday in Region 7-AAAAA. Genea Thomas also had a strong night with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Emily Wortmann led Peachtree Ridge with seven points.

North 49, Chattahoochee 38

SUWANEE - North Gwinnett won a defensive struggle on Friday as it topped Chattahoochee 49-38.

Lisa Jennings and Elizabeth Sledge led the Bulldogs with 11 points apiece.

Kari McCann led Chattahoochee with eight points.

Wesleyan 76, Rabun County 22

NORCROSS - Wesleyan got a total team effort with everyone scoring as it rolled past Rabun County 76-22 on Friday.

The No. 1 Wolves were led by Georgia Southern signee Elise Whitney who scored 12 points. Le Le LeSeur added 11 points and both Michelle Pope and freshman standout Ann Marie Armstrong had eight points apiece.

Mill Creek 69, South Forsyth 44

CUMMING - South Forsyth did not have an answer for Mill Creek's full court pressure as it fell short 69-44 on Friday. Shelbie Pool led all scorers with 15 points for Mill Creek (13-6, 3-2). Rachel Oliver chipped in with 14 points.

Lindsey Michelone led South Forsyth with 11 points.

GAC 60, Providence 36

LILBURN - D'Nay Daniels led Greater Atlanta Christian (15-4, 7-1) with 16 points, 12 rebounds and five steals as it defeated Providence 60-36 on Friday. Mollie Mitchell added 10 points.

Carli West led Providence (8-10, 4-5) with 10 points.

Hebron 71, Athens Academy 30

ATHENS - Junior Courtney Odum led Hebron (11-6, 4-1) with 28 points, five steals and five assists as Hebron rolled past Athens Academy 71-30 on Friday. Odum also hit four 3-pointers. Amy Herald also had a solid night with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Macon Area Christian 60, Greater Gwinnett 50

MACON - Despite having three players in double figures, Greater Gwinnett fell to Macon Area Christian 60-50 on Friday. Jayme Rabb led Greater Gwinnett with 16 points.
