EMC awards grants

LAWRENCEVILLE - Operation Round Up is under way and serving the needs of individuals and organizations in counties Jackson EMC serves.

Grants totaling more than $76,000 were made to organizations and individuals, and Gwinnett County award recipients include:

•$725 to a Gwinnett County resident for emergency rent assistance

•$15,000 to Family Promise, Snellville, for portion of down payment for permanent day center

•$15,000 to Lawrenceville Cooperative Ministry, Lawrenceville, for emergency rent/mortgage assistance program

•$3,000 to Lilburn Cooperative Ministry, Lilburn, for emergency rent/mortgage assistance program

•$5,000 to Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry, Snellville, for emergency rent/mortgage assistance program.

Operation Round Up was announced in March, with "rounding up" of participating members' bills to the next dollar amount beginning in October. Funds from rounding up go directly to the Jackson EMC Foundation to address charitable needs and provide financial assistance to organizations and individuals in the 10 counties served by the cooperative.
