After wowing Gwinnett County this past football season, Parkview junior Caleb King took his act to the national level this past weekend.
At the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Combine, King was named the "Super Combine" participant, essentially the MVP of an event that featured more than 600 of the nation's top juniors. Always impressive in workouts, the 5-foot-11, 190-pounder has run as low as 4.32 seconds in the 40-yard dash and has one of the nation's fastest times in the shuttle run. Last weekend's workouts came after a junior season that saw King rush for 2,765 yards, believed to be the highest total ever in Georgia's largest classification. "It doesn't surprise me (how well he did at the combine)," Parkview head coach Cecil Flowe said of King, who already has a handful of Division I scholarship offers. "He's certainly deserving. He's worked awful hard and he's starting to show the results of all his hard work. "I'm really proud of him. The whole school is." Scout.com, an Internet recruiting site that sponsors the combine, ranked King and Armando Allen of Hialeah Miami Lakes (Fla.) as the top two running backs at the event, held in conjunction with the U.S. Army All-American Bowl (an All-Star game for high school seniors).More like this story
