Mrs. Ruth Holcomb, age 81, of Dawsonville, formerly of Forsyth County, passed away Friday, January 6, 2006, following an extended illness. She was a longtime member of Concord Baptist Church. She was a devout Christian and loving wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lenord Holcomb; son, Gene Holcomb; great grandson, Scoty Williams. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Dennis Allen, Dawsonville, Jeanette and Phillip Allen, Cumming, Darlene and Everett Thompson, Dawsonville; grandchildren: Dean and Jeanne Allen, Denise and Scott Williams, Terri and Billy Wallace, Rhonda and Neil McWhorter, Brittany Thompson; 8 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorothy and J. T. Pratt, Viola Johnson, Hattie Lee and Manco Higgins; brother and sisters-in-law: Garland and Marion Rolader; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Annie and Jim Steel, Inus Holcomb; nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 8, 2006 at 3PM at Concord Baptist Church. Rev. Jimmy Orr, Rev. Rubin Smith and Rev. Dan Armistead will officiate. Interment Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. Mr. Jerry R. Powers, age 64 of Grayson, GA died January 5, 2006. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Faye Powers; daughters and son-in-law, Donna and Kirk Cave, Faith Powers, all of Grayson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Lela Powers of San Antonio, TX, Bobby and Mary Powers of Orlando, FL, Donny and Polly Powers of Jenkinsburg, GA; grandchildren, Kenneth Herren, Mandy Herren, both of Grayson; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Powers attended Snellville First Baptist Church, was self employed in the Heating and Air Industry and was an avid fisherman. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 8 at 2pm at Wages Snellville Chapel with Rev. Guy Priester officiating. Interment Eternal Hills Memory Gardens. James J. Fitzgerald, age 49 of Lilburn, GA passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2006. James worked in the insurance industry in Atlanta for the last 15 years and most recently with Maxum Indemnity of Duluth, GA. He was preceded in death by his father, John D. Fitzgerald and brother, Jack Fitzgerald. He is survived by his: wife: Debra Adams Fitzgerald; children: Laura E. Fitzgerald, Emily A. Fitzgerald, all of Lilburn, GA; mother: Thelma R. Fitzgerald of Naples, FL; brothers: Robert Fitzgerald, Michael Fitzgerald, both of Pittsburgh, PA; sisters: Carol Fitzgerald of New Jersey, Patricia Kocher of Pittsburgh, PA; a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2006 at 11:00a.m. at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel with Rev. Sara Holben-Schminckey officiating.
