Home invaders stab resident

•DULUTH - A pair of unidentified men invaded an apartment in The Falls off Satellite Boulevard on Friday and stabbed a resident during a robbery attempt.

Two Hispanic men, one tall and thin and the other heavy set, reportedly knocked on the door at about 7:15 p.m. When someone answered it, the two men armed with a knife and a pistol pushed their way inside, according to a police report.

Orlando Villanueva, 32, and two women fled to a back bedroom and locked the door. However, the intruders broke it down and demanded money, according to a police report. One of the suspects stabbed Villanueva and stole jewelry and cash from the victims.

Villanueva suffered a knife wound to the right side of his chest and a bruise on his forehead.

Shopper shot at roadside stand

•NORCROSS - A bystander was shot Saturday while shopping at a street vendor at Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Singleton Road.

Michael Brown, 30, told police he was purchasing a sweatshirt at about 4 p.m. when he heard two gunshots. Fearing for his life, Brown began to run away and then noticed he had been shot in the leg, according to a police report. He saw the suspected shooter, a black man approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall 150 pounds, running away from the scene.

The victim was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center with a non-life-threatening injury.

Man claims to be police officer

to avoid payment

•LILBURN - A man claimed to be a police officer Friday to get out of paying for gas at R & A Food Mart at 925 Indian Trail Road.

A white man came in at about 1:30 p.m. and approached a clerk while identifying himself as a police officer. The man said he didn't have any money to pay for gas and a pack of cigarettes, but he gave the clerk his contact information and promised to return the next day, according to a police report.

The clerk later tried to call the phone number, but no one answered. An officer identified a possible suspect in the police report, but no charges had immediately been filed against the man.

The officer also noted that the suspect is known to impersonate police and he has been arrested in the past for doing so.

Shoplifter hits manager with car

•NORCROSS - A fleeing shoplifter struck a store manager with a car Sunday in the parking lot of the Love Shack at 6073 Peachtree Parkway.

The manager told police he witnessed an unidentified black man trying to walk out of the store carrying a smoking pipe. As the man approached the doors, the manager yelled at him to stop, according to a police report.

The shoplifter allegedly threw the pipe to the ground and ran to a beige 2000 Honda Accord in the parking lot. The manager followed and stood behind the car in an attempt to confront the suspect, the report said.

The shoplifter put the car in reverse and backed into the manager, causing him to roll up on top of the car and fall off it as the shoplifter sped away. The suspect also struck a parked car in the lot.
