NORCROSS - It took just an hour and a half into the new year for Gwinnett to record its first homicide of 2006.
Early on New Year's Day at 1:28 a.m., authorities responded to a report of a female collapsed on the ground in front of the apartment mailboxes at Saddle Brook Apartments in the Norcross area, police spokesman Officer Darren Moloney said.
The woman, Elida Erma Moreno of Norcross, was found at the Singleton Road complex suffering from stab wounds, Moloney said.
Moreno was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.
Homicide investigators are pursuing leads, Moloney said, but they have no main suspects or a motive.
