Mr. Michael A. Lynn, age 43, of Buford, GA passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2006 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. John "Sandy" McDaniel. Mrs. Ann Acker Titshaw, 76, of Lawrenceville, GA, died Saturday, February 18, 2006. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, H. Scott Titshaw, Jr. She is survived by her son, H. Scott Titshaw, III and daughter-in-law, Betsy Harter Titshaw of Lawrenceville, GA; daughter, Amelia Ann (Mimi) Titshaw of Gracewood State School and Hospital in Gracewood, GA; granddaughters, Jessica Marie, Madison Ann, and Morgan Danielle Titshaw; grandson, Hunter Scott Titshaw, all of Lawrenceville; sisters-in-law, Joy Acker of Forest Park, GA, Martha Bobbitt of Dublin, GA, Rubye Payne of Waycross, GA; and several nieces & nephews. She was the daughter of William Dorn Acker, Sr. and Rubie Austin Acker of Atlanta and Jonesboro, GA. She graduated from Jonesboro High School, class of 1946. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1951 with a BS in Home Economics and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. For two years, she taught a combination 1st and 2nd grade class at Dunwoody Elementary School in Dunwoody, GA. She was a member of Frankie Lyle Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy, serving in several positions. She also served as credentials chairman for the Georgia Division, UDC. She served as an active volunteer for such agencies as Atlanta Mental Health Association, Easter Seal Society of Georgia, and the Cancer Society. Most of her volunteer service was devoted to the Atlanta Association for Retarded Children, where she served for several years as coordinator of the residential fund drive for retarded children in metropolitan Atlanta. For many years, she was active in the LaVista Junior Women's Club, where she served as President from 1966-1967, and held many offices and chairmanships within that organization. She also served as chairman of various committees in the Fourth District Georgia Federation of Women's Clubs. For several years, she served at the state level of the Georgia Federation of Women's Clubs serving as chairman of the mental health committee, publicity chairman, and recording secretary. In 1968, she was awarded the prestigious Clara Jordan Citizenship Award by the Junior Conference GFWC for her work within her community. She also received the Gracewood State School and Hospital award as Volunteer of the Year in 1969. At the time of her death, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville, GA and a former member of Briarcliff United Methodist Church, Atlanta, where she had served as membership secretary and was a member of the United Methodist Women, serving as secretary. She worked as receptionist in the Retardation Unit of Georgia Regional Hospital/Atlanta in 1969; then transferred to the Chaplaincy Department. She began her work at Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, GA in 1974 as a secretary for the Supervised Ministry Department, then as a staff associate in the Department of Pastoral Care. She worked for 22 years at Columbia Seminary. She also served as administrative assistant to the Southeast Region Association for Clinical Pastoral Education for 27 years. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Jasper N. Keith, Jr. and Rev. Davis Chappell officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, February 20, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at A. S. Turner & Sons.
