LAWRENCEVILLE - A Lawrenceville man died in the hospital Sunday from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle wreck on Rock Springs Road.
Authorities said Alberto Vasquez was a back-seat passenger in a vehicle which broadsided another car on Rock Springs Road near Buford Drive at 6:44 p.m. Saturday. Vasquez was riding in the vehicle when the driver lost control in a curve and struck a curb on Rock Springs Road. The vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the other vehicle, said Officer Darren Moloney, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department. The front-seat passenger, who had not been identified by police at press time Monday, died at the scene. Vasquez was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where he died on Sunday. The driver of the at-fault vehicle, 27-year-old Ignacio Zarate-Ramirez, of Lilburn, was hospitalized with a head injury, Moloney said. "Alcohol may have been a factor in this accident, although no charges have been made at this time," Moloney said. "Charges are pending further investigation."More like this story
